The purpose of this article is to analyze a picture of a Colombian stove of the 1950’s, through a theoretical and methodological exploration which reviews the Wörter und Sachen theory, searching connections between the linguistic and ethnographic (anthropological) dimensions of the Atlas Lingüístico-Etnográfico de Colombia (ALEC). The main objective of the research is to present new approaches in the analysis of the so-called “ethnographic pictures”. In order to reach this goal, the document is divided into three parts: 1) the role played by pictures in Wörter und Sachen’s school; 2) the way anthropological history has worked with so called ethnographic pictures; 3) and, finally, the analysis of the picture.
