Amixer está en Facebook. Una investigación de la choledad virtual.

By following and analyzing the interactions that take place on the Peruvian fanpage ‘Hi5amixer’ on Facebook, Salem identifies how old racial practices and discourses in Peru are built and spread in virtual social networks. The focus of the analysis is on a new discursive subject: the ‘amixer’ (a virtual reinterpretation of the more traditional ‘cholo’, asthe author points out), which is identified, classified, defined and stereotypedthrough insults, parody, irony and jokes. The sole objective of this practice was situating the ‘amixer’, in an attempt to stop its social mobility from one outdated virtual social media, Hi5, to another trendy one, Facebook. With this case study, the author suggests that social networks have produced imaginary social processes of privatization of virtual spaces.
